Exterior Beam InformationExterior Beams - IMPORTANT INFORMATIONThe Glulam Beams supplied to you have been coated with a temporary water repellent sealer. Once delivered to site, beams should be fillet stacked out of ground contact and protected from the weather. The sealer is effective for a period of up to 10 weeks from application. If left exposed for a longer period they must be recoated with your chosen coating system. If the moisture content is allowed to vary through lack of suitable protective coating, the timber could be subject to swelling and shrinkage with possible subsequent splits and shakes resulting. Any cutting, drilling, slotting or other site procedure that exposes unsealed timber must be protected with an appropriate weather sealer. McIntosh Timber Laminates Ltd will not be held responsible for deterioration of these beams due to failure to carry out the above, or any site cutting, drilling or other on site activity which permits water to penetrate the sealer into the dry wood.
