Grant McIntosh, Managing Director
Grant joined his father, Ken in the family business in 1982 as Production Manager, coming from a background in commercial construction, quantity surveying and project management.
He worked with his father, Ken until Ken handed over the reins to him in 1999. At this time Grant moved into the role of Managing Director and took on the responsibility for the management and direction of McIntosh Timber Laminates Ltd into the future.
Grant is responsible for sales in the PacificIslandsand continues to develop the large range of timber Glulam structures since MTL’s first project in the Pacific in 1972.He also oversees developments in production at our manufacturing facility in East Tamaki, Auckland.
He is committed to maintaining high quality production and developing innovative techniques, ensuring the company meets the requirements of its domestic and international clients.
Owen Griffiths, Sales and Marketing Director
Owen joined McIntosh Timber Laminates Ltd in 1969 and has been involved for over 40years in the development and manufacture of structural timber solutions. Specialising in laminated timber, he has been involved in expanding the international awareness of NZ Glulam’s potential as a prime structural design option for McIntosh Timber Laminates Ltd. He has been instrumental in introducing NZ Glulam structures to a number of overseas markets that have previously been dominated by steel and concrete. These include a large number of distinctive timber structures in Australia,Asiaand The Middle East.
Owen is an active member of New Zealand Pine Manufacturers Association, New Zealand Timber Certification Board, Woodco and New Zealand Timber Design Society. He has presented various papers and spoken at a number of international seminars on timber design.
Grant (Sandy) Sandiford, Technical Services Manager (AMIMechE)
Sandy has been with McIntosh Timber Laminates Ltd since 1998 and has the responsibility for looking after New Zealand clients. He handles all local Glulam projects and looks after our extensive alliances with local merchants and builders.
Sandy is also responsible for the development of our IT systems from CAD draughting through to costing.
David Dash, Technical Support
David came to MTL in 2003 from Wellington and a background in the building industry. His history involves builders supply merchants and a timber importing company supplying specialty timbers with kiln drying and profile machining facilities.
His timber background, which spans 40 years, has given him a wealth of experience, many connections and vast industry knowledge. His wide-ranging responsibilities at MTL include purchasing of raw material & fastenings, special product liaison for overseas projects, sales representation and quantity surveying of plans for client assembly presentation.
Michael Wannell, Operations Manager
Michael has been with MTL since early 2009 as Operations Manager, taking over from where Bill Barnett left off after 40 years of service. He came from one of NZ’s leading house building companies. He is responsible for the delivery in-full, on-time,
in-specification of all laminated products and associated materials. This includes co-coordinating all functions from acceptance through to delivery for local and export projects.

With a complete staff of around 35, McIntosh Timber Laminates Ltd has a large pool of experienced, qualified and talented employees in office and factory who make up the team dedicated to providing the type of quality, engineered products our customers require.
